Spinal Fusion: Days 3 & 4

Day 3 started at 4am when I was ready for my first pain pill of the day. I decided to make it my time to get up and stretch and get some exercise by taking care of some daily tasks like brushing my teeth and making my coffee.

Pro tip: keeping regular, if you know what I mean, is extremely important because the last thing you want to be doing is stressing on the toilet in an attempt to feel better. Pain meds have a really bad habit of stopping you up so make sure you are doing everything you an to keep it moving.

While doing my daily chores, I soon ran out of energy and went back to the recliner to rest. My next pain med time was 8am and I used that time to get up and get a shower for the first time. It felt wonderful but I did cough in there and about fell over from pain. I have to be careful not to do something like that.

The rest of day 3 and day 4 was spent resting and watching football. The main focus was going to sleep when I was tired and getting up and walking around when I wasn’t sleeping.

Overall day 4 was much better pain-wise than the others. Just have to stay active and tackle the next “problem”. Yep, pain pills have one side effect that really gets to me and that is the stoppage of bowl movements. I have not been in pain yet but some discomfort. Hopefully I can get the issue solved in the next day or two and all will be good.
